Director Receives Accolates!

Updated: Jan 28, 2024

We are proud to announce that our Director and Founder, Alice Jay, was selected to join Class 8 of The Human Trafficking Leadership Academy (HTLA)! The HTLA seeks to develop and expand survivor-informed services. To do this, HTLA offers leadership development opportunities to survivor leaders and allied professionals.

Alice, along with other lived experience experts, called fellows, took part in a series of seminars, where they learn new leadership skills while focusing on a central project question. The class consists of monthly seminars over the course of 4–6 months. As fellows work together, they build a trusted network of peers. Fellows expand and develop recommendations for new research, policies, and programs that improve awareness, understanding, and assistance for individuals who have experienced human trafficking, those at risk of human trafficking, and their families.

The HTLA Class 8 fellowship began working together in April 2023 to grow their leadership practices and address the following project question: "What innovative, effective, and safe outreach and engagement strategies should communities, schools, and organizations implement to increase youth (ages 14 to 24) awareness and promote their resilience against online harassment and abuse related to human trafficking?"

The last seminar included a final presentation and graduation ceremony in Washington, DC. on September 20, 2023. Before the ceremony, fellows presented their group’s findings to the Office on Trafficking in Persons and the Office on Women’s Health at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, and other federal stakeholders.

Congratulations Alice!
